This committe works independently and in coordination with God's Pantry and other charitable organizations to provide assistance to the community. The Social Action Committee is currently participating in the following programs:
God’s Pantry - Food Sorting
Please join representatives from the entire Jewish community at God's Pantry-(1685 Jaggie Fox Way, phone: 255-6592) on the third Tuesday of each month, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. We will sort food to be distributed to the homeless and assist God's Pantry in fulfilling the needs of the hungry in Kentucky.
OZS BACKPACK PROGRAM WITH GOD'S PANTRY
Many children who rely on free or reduced-price lunches at school shouldn’t go hungry on weekends or school breaks. God's Pantry is partnering with OZS to assemble and deliver backpacks to Mary Todd Elementary. These backpacks are filled with food that school children can take home on weekends or school breaks. Backpacking sessions resumed on August 28, 2011. Future backpacking dates (all times are on Sundays at 11:30AM) are: September 11, October 9, November 6, December 11, January 15, February 26, March 18, April 22, and May 6.
